Well, Midway's finally gone and done it. This collection of classic arcade games has finally made it to just about every viable platform out there Now it's the Dreamcast's turn to receive a little retrogaming goodness, and while the games play about as well as they did in arcades. The collection contains some real classics. Defender is here, complete with its overly difficult (well, when you were eight or nine years old, anyway) thrust and reverse controls, though you can cheat and use the D-pad to travel left or right at will. The same goes for Defender's sequel, Stargate, which is called Defender II in the collection, presumably to clear up some sort of copyright squabble. Robotron 2084 uses the DC's four front buttons as the right control stick, which works incredibly well. Joust seems a little more difficult than the arcade original, mostly because it's harder to pound the Dreamcast's A button to stay aloft than it is to jam on the arcade's nice, large flap button. Bubbles, while probably the least recognizable of the bunch, is an excellent conversion that controls surprisingly well with the D-pad. Sinistar rounds out the package, making great use of the DC's analog stick to emulate the arcade original's 49-way joystick. If you're into classic arcade games, and you haven't already picked up this exact collection for the PlayStation or PC, this IS A GREAT way to go.

Ooga Booga is an online multiplayer game for the Sega Dreamcast, focusing on the combat of "Kahunas" using thrown shrunken heads, riding animals, staffs, or using spells. The storyline is that Ooga Booga is a volcano goddess that creates islands, and has leaders of tribes, "Kahunas", battle for her favor. It has a distinct Polynesian style and tone, and has many multiplayer islands and characters which can be unlocked. It was one of the last online games for the Dreamcast.

The title includes the full footage from the Crimson Lizard live performance show, in which the Sakura Wars voice actors took to the stage in a musical performance, along with a mini adventure portion, and a mini action portion in which Oogami must pass out flyers to a crowd outside the Teikokukagekidan theater (at least, that's what Oogami seemed to be doing during the Real Video broadcast).

The official video game of the 2000 Olympics, Sydney 2000 borrows heavily from the gameplay of the 1983 arcade classic Track and Field. Players "power" their virtual athletes by hammering on two buttons in an alternating sequence as fast as possible, with the manipulation of a third button required at certain times to perform a particular action. Unfortunately, the novelty here wears off pretty darn quick, especially when using the Dreamcast's standard controller, which is just barely adequate for such frenzied button mashing; you really need an arcade stick for this one. While not all of Sydney 2000's 12 events use this tedious control system, the few that don't feature similarly shallow-as-a-puddle gameplay. What's worse, in order to make it to the Games in Olympic mode, players must "train" their team in a series of tiresome Virtual Gym exercises, which involve--you guessed it--lots and lots of button mashing. Thankfully, Sydney 2000's Arcade and Coaching modes allow players to jump right into any event.
